Problem was, his car was stuck at the shop for repairs. So, Jason arranged for a ride with a coworker. To make it easier, they agreed to meet at Benson High School, a spot both of them were familiar with. The school was only eight blocks away—about a half-mile from Jason’s home. Before he left, Jason was spotted by his neighbor doing something thoughtful, something typical of him. He was pulling trash cans from the curb back to the house to help his younger brother. It was a small act, but it would be the last confirmed sighting of him.

Hours later, something was amiss. Jason's coworker arrived at Benson High as planned, but Jason wasn’t there. She waited as long as she could, even trying to call Fazoli's to check if he had gone straight to work. But soon it became clear… Jason had never made it to the meeting point. No activity on his bank account, no use of his phone, and his car remained at the repair shop. To make matters stranger, Jason had less than sixty dollars on him that day.
